Hello from my desk this week. It's full swing of summer here in London and the school holidays are rapidly approaching. Boot camp has finished now. It seems like a good time to reflect over the last 6 months.
It has been a very busy 6 months so much growth for my business. I think part of that is due to what I call the Boot Camp magic. I am really glad I took part and the investment of time to take boot camp a second time.
Last year was tougher as I was recovering from surgery and limited in physically doing the things I wanted to do with the set assignments. This year I really felt so much at ease with the assignments which has helped with real life client assignments.
I had one really strong out come for me this time around. This was learning to use my creative energy and be mindful of when I was in the right frame of mind to create and not get so stressed out and enjoy the process. I am more focused and positive about creating my work. I am starting to receive some positive out comes.
I have had work published in one book and another soon to be published, magazines, inquires from agencies,short-listed in competitions and now working real client assignments. Great support from the industry Make it in design,Print and Pattern ,Hallmark Creative,Tiger printers ,Uppercase Magazine and Pattern Observer.
I think it has really taught me the importance of learning and growing your art practise. I am not sure if I will take Boot Camp again ( I might do still thinking about it) as I would really like to try one of Make art that sells more intense course next year. There are other areas of growth I think I need to focus on.
I have also made some nice friends from Boot camp on-line and off line. The supportive community has been amazing experience especially when your a work from home alone person. I soon realised those everyday challenges experiences in a creative life are a global issues for all creative people and your not alone.
Here are all my pieces I made for boot camp the over the last six months below. I really am loving painting again. My work has really made a shift and a bit of a surprised how decorative and light and airy my artwork has become. I definitely drawing and painting more and loving it. My favourite assignment was painting on wood a new experience for me. It really reminded me of my childhood when I was really happy just spending making things in my room.
I think that one of the magical things about boot camp is there is always a new way of thinking to try out new ways of working and not get stuck in a creative rut. I hope I will keep maintaining this in the future.
For the the next 6 months I will try maintaining the growth I have been enjoying over the past six months.

Have a great weekend X X
