Postcard from Denmark Part 2

Here is part two not such a long post this time more fun things to do in Denmark.

Visit any Lego shops and you can guaranteed spending a very long time in there. Rocket loved it.

A must see shop is Illums Bolighus design mecca of BB (Beyond budget) beautiful homes wear.

Worth checking out is the Danish design centre . Have lunch there it's a bit pricey but I had the most amazing open sandwiches. They have a permanent exhibition on Danish design through the years a flash back to my childhood with some of the items on display.

Interior design from premanent exhibition.

Finally take a trip outside Copenhagen to the Louisanne museum  . It takes about half an hour by train. You get to see the Danish country side. It's a whole day trip. Walk around and enjoy the sea view and architecture. Great Kids area to play and create art. There is great shop to browse in and  have lunch in the cafe and enjoy the sea air. Something for all the family.

If you have kids Denmark it is a fantastic family holiday destination. I am glad Rocket had the Danish experience I had when I was his age. I hope we can carry on some Danish traditions in our house.
I am running off to Scandinavian kitchen for my food fix very soon. : )

Postcard from Denmark

Hello you may have noticed I was a bit quiet on the blog front last week. All the family went back to
Denmark to say our final goodbyes to my Grandmother and lay her ashes next to my Grandfather. I know she would have been happy that we all spent some time enjoying all the Danish things she would enjoy every summer when she would always take trips back to say hello to family and friends and enjoy Danish life.

From me this trip brought back many childhood memories. It made me want to pass on some of the Danish traditions I enjoyed as a child onto Rocket. Here are some of my favourite things from the trip
if your ever in Denmark you may want to check them out.

First of all we landed in Copenhagen and stayed in a lovely apartment that my parents found on-line in Fredriksberg it's a great area quiet full of coffee shops and interesting streets and shops and an easy walk into the hustle and bustle of Copenhagen city center.

Our warm welcome at the flat

Not far away is a great area we discovered Nørrebro thanks to our Danish relatives who live near by.
It's a great place for small independent stores and cafes a family friendly area we found a great play area  for Rocket. Check out this street Jægersborggade and walk around the area I think the stores open late 11am ish. Take a walk  along Nørrebrogade  towards the canal for more great shopping streets like Ravenborggade  of vintage and design interior and fashion stores. Pop into the Assistens Cemetery it's a beautiful park  all the head stones discreetly hidden by hedges.

Then walk along Fredriksborgadde and discover more shops and when you get to Nørreport Metro there is a fantastic fabric and haberdasher store called Stof 2000 and opposite there is a great indoor food market the smell is fantastic and the food looks amazing.
